What is bhakti-yoga, and how can you add it to your life or your current yoga practice? As bhakti is a pivotal element in any yogic or religious practice, it is known as the topmost yoga. In the Bhagavad-gita, Krishna explains bhakti-yoga to his dear friend Arjuna, and here Srila Prabhupada expands these concepts in this introductory text. On July 29, 1971, Srila Prabhupada spoke at the University of Florida in Gainesville on the meaning and goal of yoga. The lecture was transcribed, edited, and later published as Krishna Consciousness, the Topmost Yoga System.The Sanskrit word yoga, he told the students, originally meant much more than physical exercise; it referred to a lifestyle focused on achieving direct experience of God. Practitioners would live far away from mainstream society, restrain their senses, and perform austere meditation with the aim of transcending the physical body entirely.
Such a lifestyle isn’t so practical now; very few people these days are prepared to live a secluded, austere, or sense-controlled life. But anyone can still attain yoga’s ultimate goal via the practical, effective method of Krishna consciousness, bhakti-yoga, the system of devotional service to the Supreme Person.
In bhakti, the mind and senses are fully engaged in spiritual activity, rather than controlled by rigorous gymnastics. Every aspect of our lives—working, playing, walking, talking, thinking, feeling, willing—can be yoga, when done in the right consciousness. Sweat, spandex, and expensive mats are optional.

মুখারবিন্দ থেকে নিঃসৃত শ্রীমদ্ভগবদগীতাকে ভব-সমুদ্র অতিক্রম করার অবলম্বন রূপে গ্রহণ করেছে। প্রকৃতপক্ষে অনাদি, অনন্ত, বিভুচৈতন্য শ্রীকৃষ্ণের দিব্য স্বরূপ বা তার বিভূতির কথা কারও পক্ষেই জানা সম্ভব নয়। এমনকি তার প্রদত্ত শিক্ষাও যথাযথভাবে অনুধাবন করা বা উপলব্ধি করা সম্ভব নয়, যদি না তার নিজ জন তত্ত্বজ্ঞানী মহাজনেরা বা আচার্যবর্গ কৃপা করে তা উদ্ভাসিত করেন। এই প্রসঙ্গে শ্রীল প্রভুপাদ বলেছেন যে, আধ্যাত্মিক জ্ঞান লাভ করতে হলে “আচার্যবান পুরুষাে বেদঃ” হতে হবে। অর্থাৎ, গীতার নির্দেশ অনুসারেই আচার্য। উপাসনা করে তাঁদের আনুগত্যে তাঁদের কাছ থেকে এই দিব্য জ্ঞানের। প্রকৃত তাৎপর্য সম্বন্ধে অবগত হতে হবে। তারপর নিজেদের জীবনে তার যথাযথ প্রয়ােগ করে এই জড় বন্ধন থেকে মুক্তি লাভপূর্বক প্রকৃত স্বরূপে স্থিত হয়ে ভগবানের নিত্য আশ্রয়ে ফিরে যাওয়ার প্রয়াস করতে হবে। এই উদ্দেশ্যেই শ্রীল প্রভুপাদ শ্রীমদ্ভগবদগীতার সুকঠিন তত্ত্বকে অত্যন্ত সরল । করে সহজবােধ্য ও সাবলীল ভাষায় এবং মনােরম পয়ার ছন্দে “গীতার গান” রূপে উপস্থাপিত করেছেন, যা পাঠ করে পাঠক একাধারে এক অনুপম সাহিত্য রসের আস্বাদন করতে পারবে এবং তার অনুশীলনের মাধ্যমে পরমার্থের পথে, অর্থাৎ জীবনের প্রকৃত উদ্দেশ্য ভগবৎ-প্রাপ্তির। পথে স্বচ্ছন্দে অগ্রসর হতে সক্ষম হবে। -

পরমার্থ লাভে অভিলাষী ভক্তিপথের পথিক সাধকদের জন্য শ্রীপাদ রোহিণীনন্দন দাস প্রভু এই “বৈষ্ণব শ্লোকাবলী” গ্রন্থটি সংকলন করেছেন। বিভিন্ন শাস্ত্র-গ্রন্থ থেকে ভগবদ্ভজনের উপযোগী অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ও সুনির্দিষ্ট শ্লোকগুলি আহরণ করে তিনি এই গ্রন্থে সন্নিবিষ্ট করেছেন। ভগবদ্ভজনের বহুবিধ অঙ্গ রয়েছে, যাকে প্রধানত দুটি ভাগে ভাগ করা যেতে পারে – আচার এবং প্রচার। আর এই দুটি বিভাগই সমান গুরুত্বপূর্ণ, পারস্পরিক সম্পর্কযুক্ত ও একে অপরের পরিপূরক। অর্থাৎ, সাধন-রাজ্যে আচার বা আচরণ যত সুষ্ঠু ও শুদ্ধ হবে, সেই পরিমাণে প্রচার করার বলও তত বেশী লাভ করা যাবে। তখন সেই ভক্তের প্রচারিত শিক্ষা বা উপদেশ সাধারণ মানুষের হৃদয় স্পর্শ করবে এবং তারাও ঐকান্তিকতার সঙ্গে ভগবস্তুজনে বা কৃষ্ণ-ভজনে নিয়োজিত হবে। আর এ সবই হচ্ছে শাস্ত্রভিত্তিক। অর্থাৎ, শাস্ত্রে প্রদত্ত শিক্ষা বা ভগবানের মহিমা ও ভক্তের ভগবদ্ভজনের মহিমাই আমাদের পারমার্থিক জীবন অবলম্বন করতে অনুপ্রাণিত করে। শাস্ত্রে বর্ণিত ভগবল্লীলা বা স্বয়ং ভগবানের মুখনিঃসৃত বাণী, কিংবা মহাজনগণের শিক্ষা, এ সবই সাধক ভক্তদের ভজন-সাধনের ও পরমার্থের ক্ষেত্রে সহায়ক ও পুষ্টি বিধানকারী। আবার সেগুলি যুক্তিপূর্ণ, ব্যবহারিক, বাস্তবসম্মত ও প্রামাণিক হওয়ার জন্য সাধারণ মানুষের কাছেও সমান ভাবে গ্রহণযোগ্য; ফলে সেগুলির প্রয়োগ, উদাহরণ ও দৃষ্টান্ত মানব সমাজকে আকৃষ্ট ও প্রভাবিত করার জন্যও সমানভাবে কার্যকরী। কিন্তু শাস্ত্রের পরিধি বিশাল তা আদ্যোপান্ত পাঠ করা বা স্মৃতিপটে ধরে রাখা কোনমতেই সম্ভব নয়। তাই আমাদের আচার-আচরণের ও প্রচারের উপযোগী শাস্ত্রসম্মত সঠিক ও প্রয়োজনীয় তথ্য ও তত্ত্ব-সিদ্ধান্ত সম্বলিত শ্লোকগুলির সংকলন করে এই গ্রন্থে বঙ্গানুবাদ সহ গ্রথিত করা হয়েছে। ফলে সাধক বা প্রচারকদের বিশেষ বিশেষ বিষয়ের জন্য নির্দিষ্ট শ্লোকগুলির সন্ধান পেতে বা তার চর্চা করতে কোন সমস্যাই হবে না, এবং অবলীলাক্রমে সেগুলির উপযোগ করে নিজেদের আচার ও প্রচার কার্য সুষ্ঠুভাবে সাধন করার মাধ্যমে আধ্যাত্মিক জীবন পুষ্ট করতে সক্ষম হবেন এবং একাধারে জগতেরও পরম মঙ্গল বিধান করতে পারবেন।ISBN 978-93-86956-33-0 90000
